Job Descriptions

Judge: Judge Wallace

The judge presides over trials and hearings. In addition, the judge rules on the admissibility of evidence, monitors the testimony of witnesses, and settles disputes between attorneys. The judge also ensures that all proceedings are fair.

Assignment Commissioner: Marsha Riggs

The assignment commissioner is responsible for case flow management, scheduling cases for hearing, and general office duties.

Bailiff: Susan McKinley

The bailiff is responsible for courtroom security and the advance of court hearings in an orderly fashion. Jury management is another responsibility. In addition, the bailiff assists with scheduling hearings and arranging transportation for prisoners.

Court Reporter: Ellen Riggs

The court reporter is responsible for making a record of court proceedings and transcribing hearings as necessary. In addition, the court reporter administers the mediation program, assists with scheduling court hearings, and other duties as required to further the efficient operation of the office.

Children in Court

We strongly recommend that you do not bring children to court. Children under 13 are not permitted in the Courtroom without the permission of the judge. Children cannot be left unattended in the hall.

Travel on 33 E through Lancaster.

From the South (Athens):

Travel on 33 W.

Merge on to the Logan/McArthur/St. Rt. 93 exit.

At the stop sign turn right and at the third traffic light make a left hand turn onto Main Street.

The courthouse is on the left hand side of the street at the end of the block.

From the East (Zanesville/New Lexington):

Follow St. Rt. 93 S into Logan.

Make a right hand turn onto Main Street.

The courthouse is on the left hand side of the street at the end of the block.

From the West (Circleville):

Follow St. Rt. 22 E to Lancaster.

Make a right hand turn onto 33 E.

Merge onto the Logan/McArthur/St. Rt. 93 exit.

At the stop sign turn right and at the third traffic light make a left hand turn onto Main Street.

From the West (Chillicothe):

Take St. Rt. 159 N to St. Rt. 180 and follow it through Laurelville to US 33.

Make a right hand turn onto 33 E.

Merge onto the Logan/McArthur/St. Rt. 93 exit.

At the stop sign turn right and at the third traffic light make a left hand turn onto Main Street.

The courthouse is on the left hand side of the street at the end of the block.
